The Quilted Smoking Slipper in Burgundy Velvet

The Quilted Smoking Slipper revives an evening classic for the way we live now: refined enough to host in, easy enough to wear from desk to dinner. Burgundy quilted velvet gives the surface a quiet, tactile depth, while a gold monogram embroidery on the vamp adds a single note of polish – all on a low 12mm heel.

Why It Works

The Quilted Smoking Slipper works because it is comfortable first and elegant second, and it never looks like it tried. The quilting gives the velvet a soft, cushioned depth, while the gold monogram embroidery turns the vamp into a small piece of jewellery for the foot. Its silhouette keeps the foot low and the line elongated, so it reads as considered rather than casual. It is exactly this mix of at-home ease and evening polish that has brought the smoking slipper back onto UK editors’ trend pages this season.

Key Features

  • Burgundy quilted velvet
  • Gold monogram embroidery
  • 12mm heel
  • Smoking slipper silhouette

The Craft

SOOS HEELS works exclusively with full-grain Italian leather and makes every pair in our Tuscan workshop. For this style the burgundy velvet upper is quilted and the gold monogram embroidery is worked onto the vamp before assembly, then the shoe is built and finished by hand. Nothing is rushed, so the slipper holds both its shape and its sheen.

Styling

Pair it with silk separates or a velvet jacket for an evening in, or take it out with tailored black trousers and a slip dress for dinner. The deep burgundy behaves like a near-neutral, so it sits easily with navy, black and cream. If you are choosing between an open-back mule and a closed loafer, see the comparison guide, and the buyer’s guide for fit. The mood pairs well with the Backless Loafer Mule and the Ankle-Wrap Wedge.
